About my name
Pronounced like Górazd Myarón or Meyerón in English and Górazd Mayarón in Spanish Gorazd is an old name of the Slavic origin, its meaning would be something like "great"; Majaron is Slovene word for marjoram.

About Slovenia
Slovenia (Eslovenia in Spanish) is a small country in the middle Europe, has only 2 million inhabitants, its capital is Ljubljana. It is located between Italy, Austria and Croatia.

About my camera
Since I switched to digital, I use Fuji Finepix S2 Pro.

About the lens
I still use my Nikon lens from the analog Nikon F-90 (50mm, zoom 35-80 and another zoom 70-210).

About the photos
I have photographed Venice several times before in analog b&w, but VeniceInDetail is my first digital project. I stayed in Venice for 3 days in September, 2004 and made 300 photos. I had to test the camera in some serious task and basically I was satisfied. Then it took me six months to come out with the final 168 photos you're now able to see in the gallery.

About the locations
As I mentioned, photography is the art of seeing and in Venice there is so much to see your eyes start to hurt, haha. At the end of the day I was really exhausted. I can give you some general info: photos ve0092-122 were shot going from Stazione Santa Lucia to Ponte di Rialto. Ve0101-108 are from Chiesa dei S.S. Giovanni & Paolo near the hospital. Ve0129-140 are from Pescheria (fish market). Ve0146-156 are from Rialto back to Santa Lucia thru S.Croce. Ve0159-203 are from Basilica di Santa Maria Della Salute and Dogana. Ve0208-229 & 0248-273 are all from and around Piazza San Marco. Ve0274-279 are from Fondamenta delle Zattere (Dorsoduro). Ve0284-370 are from Cimitero San Michele.

About the filters
First of all, I had a lot to learn. At the beginning I was perhaps too overwhelmed with endless possibilities that filters offer. Exploring in a very relaxed manner, amazed with every new image I soon realized one's imagination is the only limit. Night was over like a breeze. There were far too many filters to number them all, let's mention only the most used ones.

First I converted the photos to b&w or bronze or brownish using Virtual Photographer... Then I used one from the Xeroset1-4, usually Moodlight... After that Kyoto Color from Flaming Pear...a lot of chromasolarization... I tried all the edit/fade options after applying each filter and multiply or difference often gave a stunning result ;)

At the end I was confronted with a big problem which variant of a certain picture to choose as a final version. As you see, anybody can do it - but please do not try this with large files unless you have at least 1 GB of ram!

About this website
I signed in for 0$ hosting with Doteasy which gives me 100MB disk storage and 1000MB of monthly traffic. I have no idea if this is sufficient at this early stage. Let’s hope for the best and see what happens ;)

About Downloads
All the photos on this website are copyrighted work. Feel free to download any photo you like for your personal joy and inspiration. Any commercial use of the photos is not allowed without my written permission.

About new galleries
I’m currently working on photos from Zadar, Nin and Pag - these are towns along the Adriatic coast in Croatia, these are to appear first. I’m also preparing photos of Ljubljana, my hometown, which is famous for numerous monumental works of Slovene architect Joze Plecnik. Beside all that I have literally thousands of b&w negatives to scan from my traveling around (from Portugal to Iran).

About communicating
I speak Slovene, Serbo-Croatian, English, I can manage Italian, German and most of the Slavic languages.

About credits
I'd like to express my deepest grattitude to everyone ever involved in making this dream come true and to the source for many talents, guidance and inspiration.
